Ironically two months ago during Earth Week, a BP oil rig 50 miles off the coast of Louisiana sank and began to contaminate and pollute the waters at a rate of what was originally reported at 5,000 barrels of oil a day. But we have come to find out like most things BP was lying straight to our faces, and the rig was actually pumping out over 1,000,000 barrels of oil a day, for the past two months. You might not have heard about this if you’ve been completely out of the real world or if you consider E News the best place to find out about news in the world.
(bird off the coast of Louisiana)
(BP Oil Spill if it happened in Los Angeles)
This spill is a sus catastrophe, and another warning to everyone around the world that we need to take increasing action on how we produce and use energy. We have let Conservative Capitalists Tyrants constantly barter their way through the system and snake their way into tearing every fucking dollar and cent out of this country, rather than helping in the preservation and longevity of our world. Now 50 million barrels of oil later BP has finally signed a contract promising to set aside 20 billion dollars solely for the clean-up of the destroyed eco-systems off the coast of the Gulf, but most experts claim it will take at leats four years for the ocean to be anywhere near the condition it was before the titanic tragedy occurred. Hopefully our nation is starting to open its eyes to the ridiculousness of the oil industry and the fact that we need to make leaps and bounds in a direction towards new, clean energy.
