Click Image to watch the Up In It Episode with V and Travis

TheeWebsite's current top artist, V Sevani recently had a sit down interview with his old bandmate Travis Garland chatting up about old and new issues. Considering their group NLT broke up in the midst of  what seemed like destined super stardom- they had just toured the nation with the Pussy Cat Dolls and were slated to headline their own tour- there are a lot of unanswered questions. Outside of the Hype, they also take time to discuss their respective recent projects; Travis recently signing with Perez  Hilton and performing on American Idol, and V preparing to debut his first solo album, Steps and the coming release of, "Rock, Paper, Scissors" his first starring role in a film. Even tho NLT didn't take over the music world as a group, they all are successfully making moves on their solo projects.

Since the passing of Immigration Discrimnation Act SB1070 there has been a social Civil War in the United States. Outside of the econmic excommunication of Arizona by many liberal states(California included), the bill has further divided our nation into gangs of Democrats verse Republicans. Giving birth to the Tea Party - a conservative group who most consider as sus, racist, bigots becuase of their support of SB 1070 and an-anti Obama America that . Brewing racial tension and constant shit talking between the NAACP and high ranking Tea Party supporters has not helped in calming the situation that is spreading through our nation.

Over the week Federal Judge Susan Bolton ruled against one the sussest and extremely unconstitutional parts of the SB 1070 act, which gave officers the right to stop bystanders if said officer had reason to suspect a person was an illegal immigrant. Basically if any person seemed to have a hint of Hispanic origin, they immediately become a prime suspect . People from South America look Black, people from Spain and Mexico look White, then what does this mean, short of a police officer can stop anyone at any time. Though Bolton and many other politicians have clearly illustrated how ridiculous and racist SB1070 is and the detremtal affect the passing of this part of the bill could be to our nation, Arizona still  found it necessary to file an appeal against Bolton's ruling.

The on-going rebel against the Civil Rights of Americans by Arizona has caused not only emotional woes in the state but as of recently the states middle class has begun to start getting raped economically. Many hispanics refuse to leave their homes or drive, which has dampened the commerce to many family run businesses in the state, leaving business owners with two options: move or close down. The parts of the bill that have not been temporarily banned went into affect this morning, so there is no telling what the future of Arizona holds but one thign is for sure without the proper mobilization of civil rights groups our whoel nation could be heading backwards in time.. i.e. Jim Crowe.

Rebel or Die? That is the true question.

Click Image to Listen to Spectrum on Whitty's Page

New Orleans newest pop-corooner Whitty is back with another baus song release,"Spectrum". Spectrum is trip down Symp road, as the song explores the mindset of a guy trying to find love away from his past but constantly reverts back to the intolerable truth that his past lover encompasses everything he needs in life. Letting go of someone that was once close to you, basically apart of you, feels like a transistion of endless bullshit but at times it's so necessary in the overall growth of one as a human being. Being able to realize why you love gives you the advantage on finding that perfect balance in your spectrum, losing that love is devastating to most.

Hip-Hop has reached a growing stage as it begins to mature into the International music world. Artists are finding their voice in an over saturated market and starting to realize talking about the same hood that every rapper already repped for the last 30 years, and the same coke that every rapper sold before they made it big, is PLAYED OUT. What has has begun to take form is a revolution of minds, the realization that music has the ability to really reach and effect everyone around the world. Why not say something worth spreading, something with a meaning and a message. Tupac,Public Enemy, KRS-1 these were the legends at the forefront of the cultural movement  that is beginning to re-assemble now. Rappers are becoming the social commentators they once were shedding light on subject matters that are relevant to the world rather than the off-shored rug connect that hooked them up with their finest product.

There are still artists making moves in the rap game talking about the same ol' shit, but they are reaching a demographic that is appeased by their music. Artists like Waka Flaka and Rick Ross have been able to gain and maintain a name with their relatively one-sided music but one can not blame them if this is what their audience wants to hear. What you can do however is change how that audience listens to music. Lupe Fiasco Baused up and made this his personal responsibility. He recently recorded a track over Rick Ross's "B.M.F."-Blow Money Fast instrumental, properly retitling it Building Minds Faster. The song is not a direct shot at Rick Ross but more of a full scaled attack and social mockery of the consistent ignorance that some rappers continue to feed to our youth and our culture. Listen and spread  the word.

Over the past month Los Angeles indie-rockers, The Outline, held residency at Los Angeles creative hub Bootleg Theater in support of their recent musical release, the  "Who You Love EP".  Playing to a packed house of their devout following of friends, fans, and  family The Outline showcased the future of music in true rockstar fashion. Their setlist included  new tracks and fan favorites, "In Light of Recent News" and "Who You Love" but their best song of the night had to be their "Shotgun" performance, the half time break down at the end was so baus. The Outline will definitely be performing  more around the Silver Lake area and will hopefully be doing out ofstate tour dates  in the near future. We'll hit you with the details as soon as we're on deck but for now check out The Outline's Page and get their New Ep, "Who You Love"exclusively in TheeStore.
